A big card and a big deal

Morning everyone.  How are you.  Wow, did you guys hear the rain last night, terrible, but my tomatoes are doing a happy dance, rain water ..... they look all perky this morning.

In todays post

  • CARD FOR MY DAD
  • BIG OFFER

CARD FOR MY DAD

Anyway today's card took me a whole day to create.  Its for my Dad, Francis, and I wanted to create something special.  I knew I wanted to use the reflection technique, I also knew I wanted to use the Traveller set, and I wanted to create a picture.

Boy you should see the mess I made in the craft room.  That lovely grid paper that SU sells is covered in trial runs ........ six to be exact.  Couldn't get it right ........ trees in the wrong place, perspective was all wrong ........ each time I started again ........ it was in my head, so it was going to be on paper ........

Anyway lots of paper and coffee later here is the finished result.

First I stamped the Train from the Traveller Set

The the trees from the Lovely as a Tree set which was double stamped

Then I worked out where the pond was and did the two reflections, the train and the trees

Then I stamped in my gorgeous clouds in soft sky.

lastly I water coloured with my classic ink pads and watercolour pen, blending in grass and hills, creating train tracks and shadows.

And of course giving lots of colour and depth to the pond with all the gorgeous blues and greens we have

The inside was matt and layered like the front.  Soft sky onto Early Espresso.  I am loving this colour combo.

I hope you like it.............. he loved it ....

Traveller reflection ....... what would you like to see this turned into?

Hi everyone.

I have been playing in the craft room again and am really adoring this wonderful set.  Its so versatile. But I particularly love the boat and the train.

I used the reflection technique again to create this gorgeous picture.

At the moment it is just a flat uncut piece of card with the stamped image on it.

My question to you guys today is

WHAT KIND OF CARD WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THIS TURNED INTO?

I would love it if you would leave you suggestions at the bottom of my post.

When I have a few I will pick one and turn this into that particular card.

Perhaps you have a special occasion that you need a card for .......... suggest how you would like it used and I may well send it to you.

Reflection technique recipe:

Boat from Traveller Stamp Set

Tangello Twist Stamp N Write Marker - to do the orange colouring with

Lost Lagoon Ink pad

Water Colour Pen

Black Stayzon Ink Pad

Stampa Ma Jig

to do this technique:

Stamp your first image onto your card base (Where you want the top image to be)

Next stamp the image onto your plastic sheet from the stampa ma jig.

Turn this image over and line up under your stamped image - ideally they should be touching at the point of reflection

Then rub the back of the plastic sheet evenly all over the image so that the ink is transferred to your card stock.

Using your Stamp n Write marker colour in the orange areas and blend with the blender pen.

Then using the Lost Lagoon ink pad, squeeze pad together before opening to create puddle of ink on lid.  Take you water colour pen, and pick up a little of the diluted ink at a time and create the sea.

Leave to dry.

When finished you will have a gorgeous reflection.

Have a great day.

A special book for a special family .................

There are lots of aspects to being a crafter that are fun.

Then there are the times when it doesn't go right and we wonder why we ever started.

And then, there are those special times,  when you get asked to create something very special for some very special people.

This week was one of those times.

I was given the brief of a book to hold family photos to give to a little boy.  His Nanna loved it when she saw it and I hope that he did too.

I am immensely proud to have been asked to do this and loved choosing the papers, stamps and inks to create this.

So for a little boy, well cars and bikes, trains I was told, and then animals.  So ok, here goes.
 The side

The first page featuring Rev it Up

The second page featuring Boys will be Boys

Ah, the ever so cute Zoo Babies on page 3

 Traveller Train on page 4

Lastly Rev it up Bike on page 5

The pages are the repeated throughout the book.

As you can see there are tabs at the right hand side

These tabs pull out to reveal a matching extra photo mat inside each page

I will be honest I have used some retired stock in this project, but I am sure you could re-create it using current stamps and papers.

The papers I used were from the Winter Catalogue and can be found here on the clearance rack.  Its called Sweater Weather, and I thought the colours were just perfect for a boy.

I used four stamp sets including Rev it Up, (which is retired), Zoo Babies, Traveller and lastly Boys will be Boys.

The colours used were Pool Party, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip.  I love the combination and look these have given. They blend with the papers perfectly.

I finished the book off by making lots of journaling tags, using the angled tag topper punch and cutting lengths of Island Indigo ribbon to attach to them

The cover has been decorated with Island Indigo ribbon and it has a matching tie closure.

Finally I have cut out the little boy's name in chocolate chip card stock and have placed this in an envelope for his new Mum to put on the book.  Along with a punch art frog.

Hope you're having a great weekend wherever you are.  I will tell you what Ive been up to on Tuesday.

Also have you checked out all the information for the New Exclusive Blendabilities Club.  Its a great way to get all the new pens, spreading the cost, and getting freebies along the way.  Whats not to love.  You can find all the Blendabilities Club details here.
