Sweet Caroline

So your nifty and your fifty thats ok!!!

A good friend of mine (the landlady of the Ruishton Inn) turned 50 last weekend and we had a fantastic party to celebrate.

I wanted to make her something special, as she has a cabinet in which she displays special bits, also it had to have an elephant  included!

This gave me a bit of a challenge, I had also got a small wine bottle that I wanted to included, so with these three thoughts in mind I set to work .........

50, elephants and a wine bottle ..........

What would you come up with ..................

This is what I did,

I used the punches to create the punch art elephant on the front

The flower shop bundle to make the flowers

Chevron ribbon to create my gorgeous bow

and the itty bitty butterfly punch

I stamped the tag in matching colours to finish off.  The colours used are:
Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and a bit of Costal Cabanna for contrast.

Caroline loved it.  I hope you did to.

If you would like any of the items to be able to recreate this project then please stop by my shop and place your order.  You can do this here ...........

Are you one of those who says ............ "I can't make that!"...............

If only I had a £1 for every time I heard that .......... I would be a very rich lady.

Where has the week gone ............

Hi everyone,

Is it me, or are the weeks just rolling past a great speed.  It's so near to Christmas now, and I am totally un-organised.  I have yet to put up the tree, or indeed make my cards ........
gosh, thats bad for me ...... but hey I bet I'm not the only one.

So do you need some inspiration for Christmas?

Yes,

Well here's where we were inspiring people last weekend.
The Rural Living and Craft Fayre in Kingston St Mary.

This was my stand

This was me demonstrating

And this was the gorgeous card I was asked to make for one of the stand holders, who could not be with us.

This gorgeous card was made with the Lovely as a Tree Stamp set.  Stamped in Old Olive, and finished off with daubers to create the background.  Everyone at the show signed it and I wish the recipient a speedy recovery.

So need more inspiration?  Want to see more - yes

Then why not come along to Brownes Garden Centre, Wells today and join in the fun at the Artisan Craft Fayre from 1 - 5.

There is lots to see and do, and I will be demonstrating for some of the time.

Looking forward to seeing you  all there.

Don't forget you can purchase any of the Stampin Up products direct from this blog by clicking this link ......... happy shopping

It's Childsplay ........... so easy the kids enjoy it too .......

Don't you just love it when you hobby can be shared by the whole family.  I do.

I love that everyone in my house can get involved and enjoy aspects of my hobby.  After all it's great to share, and whilst we all like to keep something just for us, it is sometimes nice to have company.

Thats what it's like with Stampin Up.  We love to share everything and try and find new ways to inspire each other, but I love the fact that I can inspire my kids and their friends too.

This weekend I have done a brilliant craft fayre, but there will be more on that in my next post.....

but before I show you the different things I demonstrated and made I wanted to share with you some of the wonderful participants in my Make and Take section.

Not only did the Mums, Dads, and other grown ups get involved, but so did the kids.......

the youngest being 3.  How cool is that ..........

So here are some of them with their gorgeous makes ...........

I would  love thank everyone who joined in the make and takes, it was such fun working with you all.

But special thanks go out to these wonderful kids, who agreed to appear on my blog,
So thanks to Grace, Rosie, Holly, Fern, Lottie, Lucy, Maizie, Ella, Thomas, Sophie, Anna, Molly, Alex and Alfie.
The youngest stamper being 3 and the eldest pictured being 9.
Well done guys, you were awesome.

More about the show on Tuesday.

65 Years Young ..........

So what do you get someone for their 65th ........

especially if like my Mum, you don't really want or need anything.  She is very happy with her jewellery and wouldn't wear anything new, she loves her house as it is and always has a special holiday...........

that doesn't leave much choice really does it ....

We to start with I made her an extra special card ......... in the process of which I ended up covered from head to foot in dazzling diamonds.

I made this using a selection of the lovely things to be found in our ideas Book.  But did use my magnetic platform, and the new Circle Thinlets Dies to create this amazing card.

The sentiments were from Petit Pairs and the numbers are Morning Post numbers.

I decided to make my Mum a decorative wreath for her kitchen

Here's what it looked like.

I have made a bird box, flowers - some stamped, some glittered and some embossed,
die cut the leaves and birds, added ribbon and jewels and lots and lots of love.

I gave this and the card to my Mum two days ago and she loved it.  I hope you do too.

If you would like to make a wreath for a loved one then get in touch and we can arrange a workshop for you and your friends.

All items can be ordered through my online shop  HERE

Do you remember Baked Brown Sugar and delicious desert.............

that it bought to mind a couple of posts back?

Well, I needed to make a Birthday card for my amazingly talented brother.  He's a furniture and cabinet maker and a very talented teacher.  Check his blog out here ....

It's really funny.  We both work with Wood, but in different ways.

And what's more we both love Chocolate.

Stampin UP do an amazing range of colours in their Neutrals selection,

These include mouthwatering colours including

Chocolate Chip
and
Crumb Cake

Added to this is the gorgeous

Pear Pizzaz

And it brings to mind Hot Chocolate and Pear pudding.  This is very similar to a Pineapple upside down cake, but is much much more yummy.

Anyway before I disappear to get baking I just wanted to share Jason's birthday card with you.

I got out my Lovely as a Tree set - this is a wonderful set, perfect for any time of the year.

I double stamped the wooded area to give depth in gorgeous Pear Pizzaz on the matching card stock.

Before using the Oak tree and stamping in Chocolate Chip.

I matted and layered Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper and then added the Pear Pizzaz layer.

Finally I made a matching happy birthday tag and added this to the front using dimensionals.

I love this and just know that J, will too.

I hope you do, and if you would love to create this very simple yet effective card, then please don't hesitate to contact me and place your order for the wonderful products.

I of course made Jason the perfect envelope to match using the new Envelope Punch Board.  This is a must for all crafters

Anyway guys if you order online don't forget to use my hostess code.

What did you do this weekend? ...... I had the most amazing

time at the Stampin Up European Convention 2013.

It followed the theme that has been constant throughout the year .........

Be the Difference ..........

Did you know just a smile can make an immense difference to someone's day, just a little word of kindness or a small  gesture can have a huge effect.

We believe very much at Stampin Up! that we should love what we do and share what we love.  And I love sharing this with my customers, friends and also with all the other demonstrators.  I really do believe that we all can make a difference.

Can you see that smile of joy when someone opens your handmade card, unwraps that gorgeous handmade gift, the tears of happiness and the shear delight that you have taken that extra bit of time to think about them.

In just these small things you to can make an enormous difference and it's never to late to start.

With this in mind Stampin Up launched an competition covering the EU countries in which they operate to find the best samples from each country.

Also they honoured all the demonstrators at a gala awards ceremony.

But the weekend was not all about partying, we had plenty of seminars to attend and lots of learning to do.  But this was also extreme fun and when shared with other people who love what they do as much as i do it was an immense pleasure.

So would you like to see pictures of the weekend?

Yes, ok, here goes

One of my swaps

My other swap - the back and front of a postcard

the bag tags I made for Traci and I

Some of the gorgeous Pinkies - both English and Dutch
(This is just a fraction of the 84 Pinkies at Convention)

So as you can see we had great fun.  There was lots of laughs, giggles, tears of joy and lots of cheering as one by one the Pinkies were honoured on stage during the awards ceremony.
The lovely Sacha and Baby Rosie

Myself, Sam, Tracey and Lucy

Traci, and Tracey

Can I just say all the Pinkies truly are fantastic.

So apart from all the fun with my fellow Pinkies there was one major surprise in store for me at convention.

What was it ? ............

Well it was this

Yes I did it ......... I won first place in the United Kingdom heat of the Stampin Up design challenge.

Would you like to be able to make this gorgeous birthday card box and birthday book?

Well check back on the 14th December and the instructions will be here for you to buy.  They will be linked in my sidebar.

Have you noticed the bird .........

at the top and bottom of every blog post?

That's because for the past 13 years by nickname has been "Bird"

Now some of you may think that it's a bit of a put down, but is has always been a term of endearment.

So when looking for a theme for my new blog the bird came to mind.

Not to mention that whenever I think of Birds I remember the
"They Might Be Giants" 1989 Hit - Birdhouse in your soul ...........

Here's some of the lyrics .....

Im your only friend
Im not your only friend
But Im a little glowing friend
But really Im not actually your friend
But I am

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say Im the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

The song is actually sung as tho the lightbulb is the friend and is watching over the person........

But I just love the lyrics .........

So they inspired me to make some gorgeous birdhouses for my bird.

I have stamped and punched out the birds using the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set and the Bird Builder Punch.  On some of them I have simply coloured the stamp with Stampin Markers to give the multi coloured effect, some I have used our marvellous Metallic Encore Ink pads.

The houses themselves have used various papers and themes.  One is in the Winter Frost Designer Paper,  one in the Seasons of Style Papers.
Whilst the green one has been stamped with the wood effect in the Truly Grateful Stamp Set.  The roof has been embossed using the wood effect embossing folder.

All the gorgeous bows and ribbons are from Stampin Up as well.

I just adore these and have a feeling that my usual christmas tree decorations could be staying put and I could be having a bird house theme tree.

They also make fantastic treat boxes as the roof opens.

They were made using the fantastic Big Shot machine.

Everyone at the last workshop loved them.

If you would like to make these or anything similar at a workshop in your home, then please get in touch.

Don't forget everything used is available to order through my online shop.

Have a great day

It was a "Marillion" Night

Kayleigh.............

What a brilliant night hunny.  Thank you so much for hosting an amazing workshop.

I have never laughed so much, or had so much fun.  In fact, the giggles stopped the demonstration at one stage.   Love all of ya.

So my many followers I guess you're wondering what we were doing .........

Yep you guessed correctly, we were playing with all the lovely Stampin Up Goodies.

And laughing with friends, old and new.  Brilliant fun was had by all.

So what did we do.  So much .........

Firstly we played with the new envelope punch board -

(Yes I know that seems to be about a lot .............. I love it, you can use it in so many ways ....... its a true must have!!)

Then we made some gorgeous cards using Stampin Up Punches and co-ordinating stamp sets

and then we played with the Envelope Punch board again.

So here's the makes and takes ........

Kayleigh, it was brilliant, loving the rest girls.

Yep it was a cracker of a time

Birds and Christmas Ornaments were the theme of the night.

We used several colour combinations, and used both the classic ink pads and the wonderful Stampin Markers to colour our stamps.

We used Polka Dot Pieces and Christmas Collectibles together with Co-ordinating Bauble Punch and Build a Bird Punch.

Lots of ribbon, glues and Shimmer Card was used.  Such a brilliant finish.

If you would love to have fun and giggles with your friends whilst learning new hobby or continuing your crafting journey then why not give me a call.

All the items used to make the above projects are available from me, so call me or visit my on-line shop.

Have a fab day.

Kims Twitter - riffic party

Hi guys,

Wow, what a busy weekend it's been.  I need to get some sleep, but am wide awake.

Perhaps I have taken a little life lesson from one of the characters of my friend Kim's favourite bird.

The Owl.

Kim hosted a wonderful workshop at her house on Saturday.  She and her friends and family had an absolute ball.  It was great fun.

There was Stampin Up goodies everywhere.

We got to play with the new Envelope Punch Board, the owl punch, the Truly Grateful Stamp set and much much more

As a demo, it's great to see friends and family coming together and creating together. There was lots of laughter, and encouragement and much more.

Kim had requested Owls, so this is what they did.

As you can see they also had a play with the Bird Punch and in many cases combined the two, with gorgeous outcomes.

Instead of using the pastel shades in the 2013/15 we used the darker ones of the 2012/14 collection

These being Summer Startfruit, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry Slush and Midnight Muse.  This is such a rich palette of colours and brilliant for any time of the year.

Whats more Kim, didn't stop there.  She borrowed my punch, whilst waiting for hers to arrive and kept punching and punching until ...........

She had decorated a much unloved photo frame and turned it into something unique and beautiful.   Kim this is gorgeous.  I just love it.

If you would love to be able to hostess your own workshop, or create something unique for your home, please give me a call and arrange your workshop.

Alternatively if you would like to purchase any of the items used to make the above items please visit my shop   www.crunchiecrafts.stampinup.net.

Thanks for stopping by.
